Artist Paul Kolker came to Media-Star to develop a comprehensive website that would showcase his unique large format paintings. After an extensive tour of his studio, and several discussions about his goals for the site, Media-Star went to work.

We developed a clean interface that would put the focus on his fracolor pieces, and created a dynamic navigation scheme. The navigation initiated exploration of his known pieces, while a drop down menu allowed visitors to view his entire body of work. Media-Star also embarked on an ambitious endeavor to utilize Scene7’s dynamic imaging technology, which allows visitors to zoom into a photograph. Normally used on online apparel commerce (Nike, Gucci), Media-Star pushed the boundaries of the technology to allow nine levels of zoom, which provides viewers the opportunity to see the intimate details of his divisionism and them pull back for a complete perspective.

“Media-Star’s knowledge of bleeding-edge technology allowed me to present my artwork online in an exciting and interactive manner. I’m thrilled with the results!”

With the popularity of Apple’s iPhone and iPad and the changing landscape of the web, Media-Star consulted Paul Kolker about redesigning his site and moving away from Adobe’s Flash technology, which is not supported by Apple’s mobile devices. Media-Star then re-evaluated Kolker’s business and artistic goals and developed an entirely new site. The new database-driven site takes advantage of the latest web technologies, while still maintaining the minimal aesthetic of the first version. More robust, yet organic, search engine optimization techniques have also generated increased awareness and traffic.

Media-Star continues to work with Paul Kolker on fresh online and offline marketing endeavors to keep him one step ahead of the New York art scene.
